Instructions for Authors

The is a peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated exclusively to the publication of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

The journal is published biannually. All manuscripts must be original, written in English, and prepared according to the standards of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. General Requirements

  1. Manuscripts must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  2. Submissions are accepted only via the online submission system [link].
  3. All manuscripts undergo single-blind peer review by at least two experts.
  4. Each submission is screened for plagiarism (acceptable similarity ≤20%).
  5. Authors must disclose conflicts of interest, funding sources, and acknowledgments.

2. Manuscript Preparation

2.1 Title Page
  • Concise article title (≤100 characters).
  • Full names, institutional affiliations, and ORCID IDs of all authors.
  • Contact details of the corresponding author (name, email, institution, postal address).
  • Author contributions (CRediT taxonomy).
  • Funding information (if applicable).
  • Acknowledgments (optional).
2.2 Abstract and Keywords
  • Abstract length: up to 250 words.
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions).
  • Keywords: 3–6, selected from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).
2.3 Text Structure

For systematic reviews and meta-analyses:

  • Introduction (this section should be succinct, with no subheadings).
  • Methods (eligibility criteria, databases searched, search strategy, data extraction, risk of bias, statistical analysis if applicable).
  • Results (study selection, characteristics, outcomes, pooled analysis).
  • Discussion.
  • Conclusions.

Authors must prepare systematic reviews and meta-analyses in accordance with PRISMA guidelines.

2.4 References and Citation Style
  • Vancouver style.
  • References numbered consecutively in the order cited: (1), (2,3), (4–6).
  • Authorship rule:
    • ≤6 authors → list all names.
    • >6 authors → list first three, followed by et al.
  • Include DOI numbers where available.
  • Journal titles abbreviated per NLM Catalog.

Additional notes:

  • Non-English references must indicate the original language, e.g., [in Russian].
  • References in non-Roman scripts must be transliterated.
  • Authors may use EndNote with Vancouver template to ensure consistent formatting.
2.5 Tables and Figures
  • Each placed on a separate page after references.
  • Figures: minimum resolution 300 dpi (JPEG or TIFF).
  • Numbered consecutively and cited in the text.
  • All tables and figures require legends.
2.6 Abbreviations
  • Define all abbreviations at first mention: e.g., magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  • After first mention, use only the abbreviation.
  • Avoid abbreviations in the title and abstract unless universally recognized (e.g., DNA, HIV, MRI).
2.7 Supplementary materials

Supplementary materials are the additional parts to a manuscript, such as datasets that might be of interest to readers. A section titled supplementary material should be included after the tables and figures with a concise description for each supplementary material file. Supplementary materials are not modified by our production team. Authors are responsible for providing the final supplementary material files that will be published along with the article.

3. Manuscript Formatting

  1. File format: Microsoft Word (DOCX).
  2. Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt.
  3. Line spacing: 1.15.
  4. Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
  5. Text alignment: justified.
  6. Page numbering: Arabic numerals, bottom right corner.
  7. Line numbering: continuous throughout the manuscript (not restarting per page).
  8. Units of measurement: International System of Units (SI).

4. Revisions

  1. Authors must provide a point-by-point response to reviewers’ comments.
  2. Revised manuscripts must highlight changes (track changes or colored text).

5. Ethical Standards

  1. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must include a PRISMA flow diagram.
  2. Registration of review protocols in PROSPERO (or equivalent registry) is recommended but not mandatory.
  3. Any use of patient-level data requires documented ethics approval and informed consent.

6. Plagiarism Policy

  1. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism.
  2. Submissions with similarity above 20% may be rejected or returned for revision at the discretion of the editorial board.

7. Open Access and Copyright

  1. GMR is a fully open access journal - free for both authors and readers.
  2. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
  3. Authors retain copyright of their work.

8. Submission Steps

  1. Register or log in to the submission system.
  2. Enter manuscript metadata (title, abstract, keywords, author details).
  3. Upload required files:
    • Blinded manuscript.
    • Title page (with author information).
    • Figures and tables.
    • Supplementary files (if any).
    • Copyright form.
  4. Review and approve the system-generated PDF.
  5. Submit the manuscript.

9. Required Forms

9.1 Copyright & License Agreement and Author Declaration Form– one signed form per manuscript (submitted once for the article), confirming originality, authorship, and the license to publish (CC BY 4.0).

9.2 ICMJE Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form. All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest in line with ICMJE standards.

At initial submission:

  • Please upload the corresponding author’s completed and signed ICMJE Disclosure Form.
  • Please include a COI statement covering all authors in the manuscript (and/or complete the COI section in the submission system).

Before acceptance:

  • The editorial office will request individual completed and signed ICMJE Disclosure Forms from all authors (one per author).

Incomplete submissions:

Manuscripts submitted without the required forms and statements for initial submission will not be sent for peer review until the missing items are provided.
